I rate this book 3 stars. It was a little slow for me--even though it was an easy read. I thought the language that the author used was beautiful--her imagery was very vivid. She alludes to Chinese culture and tradition, which may be difficult for some to understand. I liked Xing Xing, the main character. The end was very satisfying. A good choice if you like historical fiction.

I would rate this book 5 stars. I finished it in a day because I couldn't put it down. I liked that the book was written in dialogue. The characters were very real. Pierce Butler, the slave master, really made me angry. Emma, a slave, made me cry. This is a well-written book. Anyone with an interest in history would probably enjoy.

I rate it a 4. As a former history teacher, I liked the subject and I found the dialogue style interesting. The author did a good job of bringing the horrible institution of slavery alive for readers.

I rate this book 5 stars. I just finished The Revealers and loved it. It was very realistic, and I think every student and teacher at this school can relate to it's message about bullying and trying to change the social environment in school. The three main characters are wonderful and well developed. I literally could not put this down, and I finished it in a few days. This is a book that could have a real impact on all those who read it.

I rate this book four stars. It was a very fast read that was easy to get into. The book deals with a very sad topic, the largest slave auction in American history, in a new and interesting way. I liked how the book was written in dialogue, which made it easy to identify with the characters. I really felt for all of the people in the novel. I found myself thinking about it when I wasn't reading it. I would recommend this book to all students and teachers who are interested in a good, emotional story that will also teach you about an often forgotten event in American history.

I rate this book two stars. I read the back of the book, and really expected to like it because it is a Cinderella story. I enjoyed the descriptions of the Chinese culture, including the discussion of bound feet. However, I found the story hard to get into, and didn't interest me until the very end. I felt that I couldn't relate to the main character, and that the stepmother wasn't really as evil as she was supposed to be. It was a quick and easy read.

3 1/2 stars I give it 3 stars because it has been posted in newspapers and stuff. I also thought that she was a good person and that just because you only have one arm doesn't mean that you can't do things that people with 2 arms can do.
